Before The Creation Of The World

BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD

If you ask the average person what the greatest verse in the Bible is, you would probably come up with many answers and for good reason. John 3:16 is by far one of the most popular, as is John 1:1.

I have always been drawn to 1 Peter 1:20, “He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

This verse simply blows my mind! In toughest of times, this verse screams to me of God’s infinite love for me. The word “Before” is the key that unlocks the door of this marvelous passage, into God’s heart and Christ sacrifice.

It seems the whole world knows of Jesus’ death on the cross and why, although many don’t understand and believe it. Most know Jesus died for the sins of mankind. We needed a savior and somehow, Jesus death on the cross was supposed to save us.

Believer, however know this to be true. We are very aware of our sinful condition and know that all must face judgment for these sins. We believe, Jesus, being God in the flesh, gave His life to pay our price. John 1:1 states that Jesus was there in the beginning of creation and ‘was’ God. John 3:16 tell us the God the Father sent Jesus to die for us. What a glorious display of love!

Greater still is 1 Peter 1:20 and the word “Before”. To capture the full context, examine the following:

1 Peter 1:18-20 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. (NIV)

“He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.”………Let that sink in for a moment.

Jesus was chosen to die for you and I,…BEFORE….creation! That should blow your mind! “Before” even Adam and Even sinned, Christ was chosen to die!

It was not a mistake what happened on Calvary. God, in His infinite wisdom and foresight, knew we would fall even before He created us! God loved us “SO” much that He created us “ANYWAY”! Even at the priceless expense of Jesus becoming a man to pay that price. That, my friend, is “UNCONDITIONAL” love! AMAZING LOVE!

And it doesn’t end there! Here’s another mind blower….

The Omniscience Of God.

Omniscience means “All Knowing”. It means that from beginning to end, God knows everything. This would explain Him knowing about our fall and need for a Savior before He even created us, but it also means that it was “ALREADY” accomplished!

Yes, you read it right; “ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED!” You have to understand that God is not bound by time nor space like we are. With God, all eternity exist at once. We progress in existence second by second, hour by hour, days, months, years. With God, ALL existence is simultaneous; happens at once.

So back to 1 Peter 1:20:

He was chosen before the creation of the world, (but was revealed in these last times for your sake.)

Catch that? …but was REVEALED! Reveal means to uncover or show. Christ sacrifice on the cross was ALREADY done before the world was created and only REVEALED to us 2000 yrs ago on Calvary Hill!

What Manner Of love Is This!!! You are NOT a mistake, nor is your life! God knew you before you were born. He knew you would His love and salvation. It was all covered by His love…In Advance!

Yes, one still must choose this great gift to obtain it, but one cannot deny God’s love.

It’s like a woman who wants a child. The doctor tells her that if she conceives, the pregnancy would be extremely painful and have many complications. He also warns her that her baby would probably be born with birth defects and that having a child will cost her life. The woman loves the child, existing only in her mind, so much, that she goes ahead anyway and gets pregnant. As the doctor warned, the pregnancy is painful and has many complications, but in the 9th month, she gives birth to the baby; only to gaze upon it long enough to fill her heart with joy and die from the birth.

God loves you…infinite more than this.

1 Corinthians 2:7-10 No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" -- 10 but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

God Bless You
