Desires Of Your Heart

DESIRES OF YOUR HEART

Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

Do you want the desires of your heart? Are you delighting yourself in the LORD? Scripture clearly says you cannot have one without the other. Make sure you are getting the order right though. Delight in God FIRST, THEN… He will give you the desires of your heart.

Why?

We all know by now that God will not give us anything He disapproves of or that we cannot handle. When you delight in the LORD, you are ‘in sync’ with God. When you are in sync with God, your desires will line up with God and He will have no problem giving to you.

Does that make sense?

Many of you desire a ‘Boaz” who is not from God or one that is not meant to be in your life. You cannot obtain happiness with this person because what you want has not lined up with who God wanted to give to you.

We must stop making excuses and blame our dysfunctional relationship on ‘God’s will’. I have had many women say that the Holy Spirit revealed to them a certain man was to be their husband when clearly the man in question was more interested in the world rather than God.

When the relationship crumbles, these women blame God, the devil or others for its downfall. They should have heeded the word and focused more on delighting in God instead of chasing their own desires.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

James 4:3

Don’t get thrown off by the word ‘spend’ in this verse. The scripture is speaking of ‘consuming’ your blessing on yourself and not necessarily money. It’s about asking God for ‘anything’ with wrong motives, simply to please yourself. These request are ‘NOT’ created out of delight for God, but delight for self, thus you have asked wrongly and God will not deliver.

Praying for your ‘Boaz’ should not merely be just to find a good man, but to find a man who will walk with you to help you do God’s will on earth. You should want a man to help build you up spiritually and create a godly family with you. You should want your union to be a force on earth for God.

When you get this piece of the puzzle correct, you are now delighting in God and not pretending. You are realizing that a good man, a Boaz, fits into God’s plan for you and your life for ‘HIS’ purposes. And His purpose becomes your purpose, your purposes become His and He will bless you with all you need to fulfill His will.

Remember Solomon? God asked Him to name ‘anything’ he wanted! How is that for 3 wishes from a genie or blank check?! What did Solomon do with such an offer?

A discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong.”

1 Kings 3:9

Solomon got it right! He didn’t go all selfish on God and break out his Christmas wish list. No, he asked for what God would want from Him. To know right from wrong, discernment and a heart for people. Now look At God’s response:

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”

1 Kings 3:10-14

So God not only gave Solomon what he asked for, but everything he didn’t ask for!
Here’s the best part; God is no respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34)

Solomon is not ‘better’ than you. God shows no favoritism in who you ARE, but in WHAT YOU DO! So if you focus on doing right by God, God will do right by you!

So pray and seek God. Delight in your Lord.  Wait On Your Boaz….and God will give you the desires of your heart….too.

God Bless
