PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED

PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED

Weng Goodluck Tshua was three weeks old in March 2010 when Fulani Muslims attacked his village of Dogo Nahawa and slaughtered 501 Christians. All nine members of his family, including his father and mother, were killed. He was rescued from his burning house, but not before the fire had consumed his feet. As Weng has grown over the past few years, he has been unable to run around or even walk. -http://www.persecution.com/

“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. “ 1 John 5:19

The world is indeed under the sway of the wicked one. Murder, rape, crime, slander, accusations, corruption, and sexual immorality, are but a few of the wicked one’s devices. His hatred for God and everything loved by God is evident in his bloodlust to destroy it.

Nowhere is this more evident than it is in persecuted Christianity. Christians are being hunted down line prey and attacked, raped, maimed and killed. The incidents are commonplace and widespread. Why do we not hear more about such atrocities? The world, under the sway of the wicked one, does not care.

Headlines are reserved for chemical weapon use in Syria or uprisings in the Middle East. Although it is right for these types of brutality to be brought into the light, one must question why attacks against Christians, which are more numerous, more severe and more frequent do not grab the headlines of the world. Do they not know? Do they not see?

Christianity is under attack. Not just in places like Nigeria, but everywhere. Some 62 nations around the world are restrictive to Christianity; 58 are Muslim controlled areas. The governments in these countries often turn a blind eye to the persecution of Christians. It is literally “Open Season” on Christians.

The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is November 2, 2013.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters who are being savagely brutalized for their faith in Christ. These people are being stripped of everything, even their very lives. Why worry about trivial matters and play online games and enjoy a relatively good life, these ones of God worry about when the next attack will be and if they will be one of the ones killed this time.

Pray, support or get involved in organizations that are are on the forefront of trying to stop this senseless violence. Help show our Christian family that they do not stand alone! Come let us be the hands, feet and heart of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also out to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in Him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18
